Scenario
Amid the fierce conflict between the twin cities of Piltover and Zone, two sisters fight on opposite sides in a war of magical technologies and conflicting beliefs. Fortiche Productions made a music video for Riot in 2013 called “Get Jinxed.” Jinx and the city of Piltover are already featured in it. Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to create an animated series, which took several years to create.

After the release of the first season, Riot announced that a second season would be coming, and that it would take less time to produce. He appeared in the cast of Crazy Cartoon Cast: Geeked Week for Freaks (2021) from AniMat. Arcane tells the story of two young orphaned sisters who grow up in the twin cities of Zoun and Piltover and get into trouble. The series is based on League of Legends and the video game. Although it throws you straight into its fictional world, it devotes the necessary time and attention to setting up the locations and characters in an admirable “show, don’t tell” style.
There’s incredible attention to detail
Solid character development and world building mean it’s a thoroughly enjoyable watch even if you don’t know anything about the game. As an anime fan, I think the animation in Arcane is superior to anything I’ve ever seen in an animated series. It’s clear that no artistic talent or money has been spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life.
